Insurance and Fees

I believe that clients have the right to receive clear information about fees, payment policies, and insurance coverage before beginning treatment. I am happy to discuss any questions you may have regarding the cost of services and available payment options.
Session Fees
Individual Therapy (50-minute session): $180
Family Therapy, Conjoint Therapy, Parent-Child Sessions, and Co-Parenting Sessions (50-minute session): $225
Additional services outside of regularly scheduled therapy sessions, including report writing, record review, treatment summaries, consultation with other professionals, court-related services, extended phone consultations, and other non-clinical services may be billed separately. Any applicable fees will be discussed in advance whenever possible.
Insurance
I am credentialed with many major insurance plans, including:
-
Aetna
-
Optum
-
United Healthcare
-
Anthem Blue Cross
-
Blue Shield of California
-
Providence
-
Additional plans may also be accepted
Because insurance networks and benefits change frequently, all benefits must be verified prior to treatment. Participation with a specific insurance company does not guarantee coverage for services, and clients are responsible for understanding their individual benefits, including copays, coinsurance, deductibles, authorization requirements, and any non-covered services.
When I am in-network with your insurance plan, I will generally bill your insurance directly. Many clients are responsible only for their copay, coinsurance, or deductible amount, although coverage varies by plan. If I am not in network with your insurance I am happy to provide a superbill so you can be reimbursed either partially or in full.
Court-Involved and Reunification Services
Court-ordered, court-involved, reunification therapy, co-parenting services, parent coaching related to legal proceedings, and other specialized family court-related services are often not covered by health insurance. Insurance companies generally require that treatment be medically necessary for the treatment of a diagnosed mental health condition and may not reimburse services that are primarily forensic, evaluative, educational, legal, or court-related in nature.
As a result, many court-involved services must be provided on a private-pay basis. I am happy to discuss the specifics of your situation and whether insurance coverage may apply.
Good Faith Estimate
In accordance with federal law, clients who are uninsured or who choose not to use their insurance benefits have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for mental health services. You may request a Good Faith Estimate at any time before or during treatment.
Payment and Financial Responsibility
Payment is due at the time services are provided unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Clients are ultimately responsible for fees not paid by their insurance company, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance amounts, and services that are not covered by their plan.
If you have questions about fees, insurance coverage, or payment options, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to discuss your situation and help you understand your options before beginning treatment.
Cancellation & Attendance Policy
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Because it is often difficult to fill a canceled appointment on short notice, I require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or rescheduling request.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments ("no-shows"), will be charged the full session fee. Please note that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed appointment fees, and clients are responsible for these charges.
Regular attendance is an important part of successful treatment. To ensure that appointment times remain available to clients who are actively participating in therapy, clients who miss three or more scheduled sessions, whether due to late cancellations or no-shows, may forfeit their regularly reserved appointment day and time.
If this occurs, the appointment slot may be offered to another client. Clients may continue treatment and remain active in the practice; however, future appointments will be scheduled based on availability rather than a standing reserved time.
I understand that emergencies and unexpected circumstances occasionally arise. If you experience unusual circumstances that affect your ability to attend a scheduled appointment, please contact me as soon as possible so we can discuss the situation.
After-School Appointment Availability
Because after-school and early evening appointments are in high demand, appointments scheduled after 3:00 p.m. are generally reserved for clients who are participating in therapy on a weekly basis. This policy helps ensure that these limited appointment times remain available to children, adolescents, and families who require consistent ongoing treatment.
If a client reaches a point where bi-weekly sessions are clinically appropriate, I am happy to discuss alternative scheduling arrangements and will do my best to accommodate their needs based on availability. My goal is to provide flexibility whenever possible while ensuring fair access to these highly sought-after appointment times.
